The Great Blizzard of 09!

This past week they let Brandon off early from work because of extreme blizzard warnings in Calgary. He called and acted like a 5 year old.
I GET TO COME HOME!
SNOW DAY!
I was super excited too. It was awesome to have him home early- He takes the train to work every day so luckily he didn't have to drive through the horrible horrible traffic-
and over 50 cars in ditches.
When he got home we started our advent calendars and had some hot chocolate- we havn't really gone anywhere the past couple days and it's been fun to be snowed in. The boys love their advent calendars-{ like love them!} thanks to grandpa who bought them. They know we put them on the counter and they point to them. Right after my own heart chocolate boys.

Brandon started calling it the great blizzard of 09 and it made me laugh pretty hard. But its so true there are feet of snow in cranston on the road still because the plows can't keep up- buses are getting stuck cars are in parking lots stuck-
the local Sobeys ran out of bread and milk.
It's crazy I never had a snow day when I lived in Utah and Idaho.
Here you get them if driving conditions are bad or it gets to -40
-yes it gets that cold here.-
anyways it's been fun being cozy with my boys and brandon just chillin in our jammies looking at the warm glow of our christmas tree and fireplace.

  1. Glad you're living it up! Wish Jarett got the time off. Apparently finals don't get canceled even in weather like this. I remember working at Walmart when it was -60 and people still came shopping!! Welcome to the North!

  2. THIS MAKES ME SO HOMESICK FOR RUSSIA!! I'm so jealous of you!! I would love the days when it would be so cold you had to wear your PJ's and slippers and all you would eat would be warm bread and soup and you would look out the window and all you could see is snow snow snow and it keeps falling like you are a miniature person living in a snow globe! SOOO JEALOUS RIGHT NOW! I'm in stupid Vegas where it looks like summer but feels slightly chilly.

My two littlest guys asked, "When are you making the SPECIAL hot chocolate" and I replied, "When it really snows!" I have special snowmen hot cocoa mugs from one of my favorite potters for each of the boys! LET IT SNOW! I am so jealous!
